While sound baths and sound healing may seem like very trendy ideas, the fact is that harnessing the power of sound has been part of the human experience for thousands of years. Sound can be found in healing traditions, in musical expressions; it is used in medicine, religion, and science.
For me, I have always been intrigued by alternate methods of healing or reducing suffering. Maybe that’s why I became a Yoga therapist in the first place. Or why a decided to study meditation.
But sound has a power all its own.
When the opportunity to do sound training with Melissa Felsenstein arose, I jumped at the chance. Since then, I have completed three levels of training (200 hours) and am certified through her company Inner Sounds Meditation. Melissa has been a leading provider of various sound services for over a decade, including sound baths and sound healing. She has a great deal of knowledge and experience to share with her students. Moreover, Inner Sounds Meditation has distinguished itself as a premier educational organization, offering comprehensive and rigorous sound training, combined with genuine empathy and affection for the students.
During a sound bath, the participants are immersed in the sound waves coming from exotic or unusual instruments. For some people, that sound leads them into a deep, meditative state. For others, it may simply inspire feelings of peace and contentment. Common benefits include:
I know, firsthand, from listening to my clients and my patience, that sound baths can indeed offer all of these things.
A sound experience, including sound baths and sound healing, can take place anywhere. Whether it's for a group of people or maybe for just one person, sound can be a means of letting go of stress or tension, a way to rejuvenate, or maybe even open some doors for you that hide deep inside. If you're in the Greater Los Angeles area, chances are I can bring a full sound bath to you.
Please feel free to talk to me how my crystal bowls, gong, Koshi chimes, ocean drum, and various other instruments can be used for:
Corporate Events
While companies often struggle to find just the right experience for their employees, sound baths may be the perfect solution. For your staff, you offer them a way to reduce stress and anxiety, something that ultimately makes for a more pleasant work environment. Moreover, you are likely to see an increase in productivity as workers seem more focused on their jobs and maybe even more creative.
Private Group Sessions
Perhaps there's a group of people who would like to experience some of the benefits of sound, maybe your family or book club (and by a "group" I mean 2 or more). I can bring the sound bath experience to your home or any other location of your choice (including outside, weather permitting).
Private 1-on-1 Sessions
A sound bath for just one person allows me to adjust the experience to address your specific needs or goals. These types of private sessions are often used for healing — both physical and mental injuries. But even if you are only using the session as a way to relax or meditate more deeply, a private, 1-on-1 sound bath is the ultimate self-care experience.
Basically, nothing. Ears, maybe? A willingness to just relax and listen? Not everyone will have a profound experience, certainly some people may, but everyone will have the opportunity to let go of stress, and maybe even fall asleep. You should dress for the environment, in either warm or cool clothing. You could even bring a pillow — anything to make you comfortable.
